Went looking for Beware the technocrats – Lord Ritchie Calder, but failed to find it. Only found this - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/b017x776. Worth a listen - some good points on representation (and makes Johnson's cabinet look like a joke!).

Many thanks, Cliff. Wish I'd found that opinion piece myself as it's pretty much on-message! A cabal of connected people with their own scientific and political biases (like SAGE in the UK) having the ear of scientifically illiterate senior politicians (like Boris) is a recipe for disaster as we are witnessing now and will be over the next few years. It just shows that politics learns nothing from history. Panocracy would dispense with the powerful illiterates and open scientific debate to the citizenry. There are plenty of honest, creative and informed minds in any topic there to get to a viable way forward.
